At the present there are about 4.5 million migrant workers residing in Malaysia. By 2010 there will be 5 million. These workers come primarily from Indonesia, Nepal, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries. Among the workers 98% of them are non-Christians. These migrant workers are foreigners (strangers) in a foreign land. They are receptive to the Gospel in their state of displacement, away from their own homeland and families and from being subjected to economic and societal pressures. Many of them are left vulnerable and feeling helpless in this foreign country. Therefore we as YWAM KL play the role as a mediator of hope and relief, that they may find love and acceptance in Christ. Since many of them return to their homes after a 2-3 yr working contract, we recognize the opportunity and long-term investment by ministering and presenting the Gospel of Christ to them. If these workers will accept Christ while working here in Malaysia, how wonderful it will be when they return to their home countries, later influencing their families and society! There is a new exciting harvest among the Migrant Workers in Malaysia. If you would like to be a part of this harvest, please feel free to contact us. |
